2024 Lompoc Chalks

This year’s Lompoc Chalks was a vibrant showcase of creativity, my octopus drew smiles from kids and festivalgoers who share a passion for unexpected art.

On our way home, we stopped in Solvang, a charming Dutch-inspired town in California’s Santa Ynez Valley. Strolling through its quaint streets, surrounded by iconic windmills, half-timbered architecture, and delicious pastries, reminding me of the time I traveled through Copenhagen. It was a perfect conclusion to a creative weekend, leaving me inspired for my next chalk masterpiece.

2024 Pasadena Chalk Festival

This year, I had the exciting opportunity to transform the pavement into a hauntingly beautiful gargoyle inspired by Disney’s Haunted Mansion. The best part of the festival was seeing people captivated by the creepy, yet fascinating design. Children and adults alike shared their love for the Haunted Mansion, making it an interactive experience. Creating this piece was about evoking the spooky charm that makes the Haunted Mansion such a beloved theme for all ages.

It starts with a gargoyle sketch!

I used painter’s tape to tape off the stripes in the background to keep the wallpaper lines straight.

After lots of blending in the background, I start chalking the gargoyle.

Finished it with a sprinkle of glitter (my secret weapon!)

As usual, I love making a time-lapse of the process, check it out below! Thanks for watching!
